Finding meaning from our dreams is something human kind has been curious about for centuries. While some people have prophetic dreams, and can, while they are asleep, foresee the future, most of us are simply processing events that occur during our waking hours. Sometimes dreams will provide answers to problems as our sub-conscious works out situations that we are struggling with; other times our minds are simply organizing data and learned material to better use it while we are awake. Whether the dreams we have are of the inspirational kind, the prophetic sort or just simple thought process, they often don’t seem to make much sense upon first thought. However, when we write down our dreams and give some consideration to them, upon further investigation, they make a great deal of sense. A jumbled dream may seem to just be a lot of disjointed images and thoughts, but they each contain their own meanings to us personally and universally.

The Chakra system is the seven points within the human body that are considered central areas or energy points that balance the rest of the body, the mind and the spirit. Spiritually speaking, they are also considered to be the various states or elevations of consciousness. The theory of Chakra points was originated in India by a yogi around 600 BC and were bought to the Western world in the 1920’s. The English word Chakra comes from the Sanskrit for Wheel or Circle, which has major significance in Buddhist and Hindu religions as a symbol of universal unity and completeness. While Western culture was introduced to the idea of Chakra early in the 20th century, the philosophy did not take strong hold until much later. In the last twenty years or so, the New Age movement has gained new insight and understanding into this ancient philosophy and the key role the chakras play in balancing the body and mind and spirit. The ideal mental, physical and spiritual state has all seven chakras open and in perfect balance, thus if any are “blocked” or unbalanced, the rest of the body, mind and spirit may suffer as a result.

Metaphysics practices have existed since the time of Aristotle and simply is a philosophy that addresses deep questions such as the reason for our existence and our purpose in life. When and how metaphysics became deeply entrenched in the human psyche in regard to spiritual growth is not known, but the two are quite compatible. Since metaphysics addresses questions pertaining to man’s (and woman’s) quest for deeper understanding of self, it makes perfect sense that this would translate into more spiritual pursuits and questions. The “New Age” movement as it is defined in the modern world only came about recently. It was not until the late 20th century that new age practices were very prevalent throughout the world. However, it is now considered commonplace and one can hardly separate the theories of metaphysics from those of the new age movement.

Metaphysics and the practice of metaphysics has been around for thousands of years. Plato and Aristotle were considered philosophers that were interested in the science of metaphysics as far back as 435 BC. Essentially metaphysics asks the questions that science cannot answer such as “Who am I,” “Why am I here,” “What is the deeper purpose of my existence,” and other spiritually investigative questions that have been on the minds of human beings since the beginning of time. In the twentieth century and the twenty first century metaphysics experienced a huge renaissance. This was most likely due to the self-satisfying indulgences of the 1980’s and 1990’s. People began to turn inward and to the deeper reaches of humanity and spirit to better understand their purpose and ultimate spiritual enlightenment. During this renaissance people sought to find items that were considered hard to find at the time and would aid in the furtherance of understanding the human condition. One by one metaphysical retail shops and metaphysical stores began to emerge. At first finding a place to purchase items such as tarot cards, crystals, wands, Mustika pearls and metaphysical literature was very difficult to find, however, as the demand for these items increased so did the available places to purchase these items.
